On a cool and still desert night, glowing lights illuminate the opening round of the 2009 MotoGP season. A preseason plagued by injury, three rookies and a returning prodigal son, all new control Bridgestone rubber, the global financial crisis and brand new engine reliability rules define the build-up to 2009. A season that sees a raft of race winners and champion rookies join the ranks of the big guns, the return of Sete Gibernau from the cold and what could be the last time around the block for the struggling Marco Melandri. With one championship apiece since the two have shared the MotoGP paddock, it’s the tie break season for Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi, even as the pack of screaming demons hunt them down.
